CHILDHOOD SETS THE FOUNDATION TO ADULTHOOD

Childhood sets the foundation to adulthood in ways you would not think of.

Everytime whenever I’m on the train climbing over people and walking down the aisle to the door. I thank my years of being on the school bus.

Because it was there that I learnt about balance and walking in a moving object. Plus I’m not shy in telling people to move out the way.

You can’t be polite in everything. You get looks, but hey you never know what they are thinking? May it be ‘she’s got guts?’

That’s why it’s vital to encourage children to go beyond the comfort zone. While the young generation have a different world to when I was growing up. In fact I’m glad I had the upbringing I did of the country. Because it’s there where you learn about fires, drought flooding and how far away you really are from shops!

Then there are those moments when your habits of remembering every kid in the school to their routine home. Especially as when I was in high school in the mid 80’s and nearly all townies rode bikes with less than a dozen walked. Then as the years progressed years after leaving, droves of kids walked and barely a few rode! Walking was the lazy option as it would have been quicker to ride home if lived locally!

Where the tide may be flowing differently even now, who knows. All I say is everything you do as child it leads to setting foundations to adulthood many years later. Even if touch typing or shorthand was the only thing you remember from school, they certainly would be an ideal skill now!

Don’t you agree?
